This afternoon I finally set up the umbrella for the porch. It has been sitting in the garage for years. The wind in Eldorado can be really strong, and I’m reluctant to use it because of that. Now it’s been installed, we still have to keep an eye on it the whole time.
I did spend an hour on the porch reading afterwards. I haven’t felt this content living here since a while..

Not much to report today. Our gardener didn’t show this morning. It screwed up our plans for the day. Honestly I’m getting tired of this. We couldn’t help but wonder if it’s a New Mexican “thing“, that everything takes longer to get done..

When we drove home from downtown, the sky started to change. Just when I was about to close the garage door, it got windy suddenly and tumbleweeds were rolling in frightening speed. I looked up at the sky, a patch of dark cloud was hanging over our neighborhood. I half expected that the weather was going to get worse. But an hour or so later, the sun was shining again.
It’s a reminder that sometimes dark clouds are just dark clouds; no rain was guaranteed..

Decisions, decisions. I’ve been spending most part of my day in front of the computer, backing up files to the “cloud” and reading online the pros and cons of using Synology Photos or Nextcloud.
Well, tomorrow is another day. Good night for now.

Driving back home from Harry’s Roadhouse, the colors of the sky were dreamy. I had to stop the car and captured the moment..

We had planned to take a walk together just minutes before our minor argument started. All it took was an email from our lawyer. We walked the first half of a mile in total silence. He had to take a brief break every now and then as his legs were bothering him as usual. Sensing his distress, I put my left hand on his back, supporting him and helping him move forward with my will.
He turned his face to look at me and said: “We can do it, if we set our minds to it. We’ve always had.”
I responded only with a faint smile. And we continued walking.

Bear in mind that I’m no good at cooking. It was a total improvisation, but it turned out quite good. A bit salty for my taste, but my companion actually liked it after one bite.

Our gardeners made these two tipis with the leftover latillas a few years ago. I started to paint them last year before the winter started. My plan was to paint them in either white or blue. Today while I was picking up tumbleweeds, I looked at these two tipis and thought that I ought to finish them. Another work in progress. It seems everything is a work in progress since we moved here..

A few hours after I captured this image, it started to rain.
I’m glad that I did some garden work this afternoon. Our yard is scattered with countless tumbleweeds and these days I’ve been trying to collect and dump them at the community center where they currently have a dumpster specifically for garden waste. The dumpster is often full to the brim and we are not allowed to leave the stuff on the ground. It’s always a gamble carrying our garden waste there. It has happened several times that we had to take it back home because the dumpster was already overloaded..
