Another rather quiet day in Eldorado. My companion had a PT appointment this afternoon. Afterwards we went to Java Joe’s on Rodeo Road for our usuals. The temperature wasn’t too bad today. Or perhaps we’ve gotten used to the heat.
On our way back, we made a little excursion and drove by the other house that we were interested in when we were looking for our next home. Sometimes I wonder if things would have been different if we had made a different decision..
Sometimes all it takes is observing sunset in complete silence to soothe my mind, to realize that at the end nothing else really matters..
There was an empty bird nest on the ground on our porch this morning. I know where it was placed but not sure how it fell down. Perhaps the wind? Fortunately it has served its purpose and all the birds have left before this happened..
Take a closer look at this bird nest. I have no idea what birds they were, but look at this most intricate, tedious work.. I remember seeing them bringing twigs or grass in their beaks and constructing the nest from nothing. All the while they had to guard and protect the site and make sure it’s safe for their offspring. It is truly incredible when you think about it. I’m always in awe of something like this..
If you haven’t already noticed, I’m fascinated by clouds. They are never the same. They constantly change form and each moment is unique. What you see right now will not be the same the next second. It’s a great reminder that nothing lasts forever..
Not much to report today, but look at this.. Entirely Mother Nature’s creation. Absolutely no A.I.
There was a scheduled hydrant replacement in our neighborhood today, therefore water would be cut off from 9am to 4pm. We took it as an opportunity to drive somewhere spending the day elsewhere.
So we went to Las Vegas! No, not the Sin City in Nevada; It’s the Las Vegas in our home state New Mexico. We’ve been to this charming city a few times in the past, and the people we came across have always been very friendly. I guess that’s one reason why we kept going back there.

When we were tourists visiting New Mexico way before we moved here, other than Santa Fe, I was attracted by Madrid’s vibrant artistic charm. It left me an impression so deeply that we have been driving there at least twice a year since we relocated to Santa Fe.
So that’s what we did today. We drove 45 minutes and went to Java Junction for a cup of coffee and some pastries. The temperature was even hotter than where we live. While my companion continued with his coffee in the shade, I went by myself for a walk in the area with my camera. The short stroll reminded me of the various reasons why I felt in love with the Land of Enchantment..
In order to avoid the heat I went out and worked in the yard as soon as I finished my daily Españo course this morning. I filled up all the bird feeders when I noticed they were completely empty. And I saw a ground squirrel for the first time in our backyard..
It’s mundane but I don’t mind a bit. I’m quite content with a life like this..
This is one of the two favorite spots of ours to observe clouds and sunsets. This one is at the end of Ave Vista Grande, where we have to make a left turn in order to get home.
We used to frequent these two spots before sunset after we moved here and even more often during the pandemic. Looking back, it was such an uncertain time from various perspectives. But we always found somewhat a sense of peace when we parked our car there and watched the sun slowly disappear behind the mountains. We live in the Land of Enchantment, and that feeling confirms our decision. We are exactly we are supposed to be at this moment.
It doesn’t cost a thing. Give a little love, to total strangers, to passers by, to the universe.. When there’s a string attached, the love was never real. It’s the easiest thing to do if we could see past our differences. Won’t you give a little love to your fellow human beings, or to yourself?
