Our gardeners made these two tipis with the leftover latillas a few years ago. I started to paint them last year before the winter started. My plan was to paint them in either white or blue. Today while I was picking up tumbleweeds, I looked at these two tipis and thought that I ought to finish them. Another work in progress. I’m glad that I did some garden work this afternoon. Our yard is scattered with countless tumbleweeds and these days I’ve been trying to collect and dump them at the community center where they currently have a dumpster specifically for garden waste. The dumpster is often full to the brim and we are not allowed to leave the stuff on the ground. It’s always a gamble carrying our garden waste there. It has happened several times that we had to take it back home because the dumpster was already overloaded..
Inspired by various recent Mastodon posts, I thought it’s time to try and make my own pickle red onions. While looking for recipes online, I came across pickle ginger, and I thought: why not try to make both? So I did last Saturday. I only had the first taste of the pickle ginger today. A bit too spicy but I know why. I couldn’t find young ginger in our grocery store and used whatever I could find.
Overall, I’m satisfied with the results. And I’m glad that I did try.
All these wonderful little things in this world, they make me full of joy. They never cease to amaze me. And they don’t exist in order to inspire me. They are simply there..
Today we went for a walk in the Casa Solana neighborhood. It was my companion’s idea and it wasn’t the first time we returned to that area, because this is where we jointly decided that Santa Fe would be our new hometown almost eight years ago..
Today was pretty uneventful. It was overcast most of the day and we even received some moisture, which was more than necessary.

Our Apache Plume has finally bloomed. One thing I always look forward to in spring is the flowering of this specific plant. Soon the white petals will fall and it will transform into plumelike flower. That’s something beyond my imagination..
Every spring we face this dilemma. We love birds. We have birdhouses set up all around our house. It’s not to prevent birds from nesting on top of our front door lamp. I know better than to think that would work.
So every spring when we see birds start building nest on top of the wall light by our front door, we have to make a decision if we should let them. Our hesitation to decide usually ends up with a bird nest completely built and we are too softhearted to take it down..

Before I knew it, I’ve spent most of the day doing research about NAS online. If I made a rushed decision, likely I would end up wasting money and time. There’s so much to consider and I’m learning along the way.
