  • Standing Tall Fabulously

    Lower half of our agave flowers are fully bloomed now. This agave, as I probably have mentioned before, is too young to bloom in my opinion. Its flowering stalk stands only about seven feet tall. Still, it stands straight and reaches the sky as high as it can.

  • Another Beginning of an End

    Do you know that this particular type of agave, commonly known as the century plant, once they bloom, they die soon afterwards?

    This morning when I dragged our recycling bin to the curb, I noticed that some of the flowers are opening. This is our second agave that has bloomed. I still get this mixture of happy and sad feeling.. “Soon it will be dead..” I said to myself. “but it certainly is putting on a great show.”

  • Change is Going to Come.

    This is the view from our back porch. I could just sit there and take in whatever the nature has to offer. It’s easy to put the world behind, and that’s what I wanted when we decided to leave New York and move to the Land of Enchantment. This world is crazier than ever and so much has happened. Change is going to come, whether we’re ready or not. But this view still puts my mind at ease, and I’m holding on to that tranquility it selflessly continues to offer..
