Photo & Diary

  • Lost direction at the Intersection

It’s been raining almost the whole day today and that certainly has inevitably dampened the mood a bit. At the same time my companion’s legs started to hurt again. He assumed that the high humidity was to blame and was annoyed that neither Tylenol nor Advil seemed to be working. What’s worse is that more rain is expected for the next two days..

  • Cortado en Jarrito

Well, it was a “Cortado en Jarrito”. I captured this image after I finished it, which concluded our dinner tonight. It was also, as a matter of fact, the last “frame” of the images from today.

Not sure if it was the alcohol, my companion was placing orders in Español mixed with English this evening. It’s also possible that he has noticed that I’ve been trying to practice my Español since we arrived in Buenos Aires. So this evening we were using all the Spanish vocabulary that we know. Meanwhile our waiter had a good time listening to our broken Español. We all had a good laugh and wonderful time..

  • First Night in Buenos Aires

Impressive view from our hotel’s balcony. Erected in 1936, this obelisk is located at the Plaza de la República.

  • Flying Again..

Today is a traveling day. We left Albuquerque International Sunport this morning and now in Houston waiting for connecting flight..

  • The Greatest Magician

Ten minutes before I captured this image, the sky was almost gray even though there was a thin orange glow on the horizon. I was prepared to lower the blinds and accept that it was the end of the scene. Apparently it was a trick performed by the greatest magician. How could this be possible? I was stunned by this dramatic transformation..

  • Pending Project

This latilla was from the leftover material for our back porch. I painted it white and intended to add more colors to it. Somehow I just cannot make up my mind what I should do with it. Any suggestions?

  • Another Unproductive Day

We stayed in this morning for we were expecting our gardener to come at noon. Ten minutes before twelve, I received a text message from him telling me that he couldn’t make it today and asked if tomorrow morning would be okay.

Coincidentally, it started to rain a little bit, which wouldn’t have been ideal for doing garden work. The rain today was totally unexpected. According to the weather forecast we’re supposed to get some rain tomorrow. Hopefully it won’t be around the time when the gardener is here..

The gardener’s postponement today disrupted the rhythm of the remaining day more than I’d thought possible. I could have better organized my time..

  • Change is Going to Come.

This is the view from our back porch. I could just sit there and take in whatever the nature has to offer. It’s easy to put the world behind, and that’s what I wanted when we decided to leave New York and move to the Land of Enchantment. This world is crazier than ever and so much has happened. Change is going to come, whether we’re ready or not. But this view still puts my mind at ease, and I’m holding on to that tranquility it selflessly continues to offer..

  • Information Overload

Today has been a somewhat strange day. We did all our Sunday routine and yet I felt the whole day has been wasted. I’m having a mild headache while I’m writing this. I think I’d call it a day..

  • Silent Protest

I knew they are out there. I knew there are plenty of people who feel the same as I do. May that be angry, disappointed, disgusted, pessimistic, heartbroken, helpless or even lost, deep down I’m still holding onto that almost nonexistent sense of hope. I needed reassurance. That’s one reason why I needed to be there, to be part of this peaceful protest, to see the faces of strangers who are exactly on the same boat.

Accidentally, I spotted a familiar face in the crowd. He works at our local hardware store and we’ve only exchanged a few words since we moved here. Suddenly our eyes met and he recognized me. He moved towards me and extended his hand.

“Good to see you here.” I smiled and said to him, while I shook his hand with a firm grip.
