  • Lost in Emptiness.

We were literally steps away from our building, but Mom needed to rest a bit. While she was sitting there, I captured a few images of her and the surroundings. There were moments her mind seemed to be somewhere else. As to where, no one could tell..

Lost in Emptiness. That’s what I imagine her world is like. It scares me tremendously, but I try not to think about it..

  • Fresh Paint. Fresh Rules.

These colorful markings were not there last time when I was here. My reaction was mixed, but I do think it’s great that the government is trying to make the city more pedestrian friendly.

Unfortunately I’ve already seen some motorbikes and cars occupying the green area with no regard for the law, and however briefly as the owners might claim..

  • First Post from the Motherland.

I was too exhausted, too preoccupied when I got home last night. Tonight is the second night back in the Motherland and I’m feeling a bit stranded. I pointed my camera at the window and captured this. It’s the night view of the world outside my window. So much has changed since we purchased this apartment..

  • Flying away from Albuquerque..

Can’t say it’s a familiar scene by now. And I don’t think I can ever get used to flying so early. But this view when the sun slowly started to reveal itself, the warmth that it promised.. I’ve always loved it.. It’s a new beginning. It’s a renewed hope..

Goodbye, Albuquerque. Goodbye, New Mexico. Soon I will be back again..

  • Pre-travel Chaos.

After spending more than half a day tidying up our house and finalizing the luggage, we drove to Albuquerque to stay at a hotel since my flight departs before the sun even rises tomorrow morning.

My mind is all over the place and I don’t want to leave my companion behind. Since a few years I often feel like I’m in a bind and continue to failing to find a balance. Maybe there’s no solution. Maybe I have been thinking too much. Maybe this is one dilemma that I simply cannot please both sides.

In my mind I’m thinking about the things we would do for love.. and how far we would be willing to go..

  • The Ghost Buffalo

I knew about its existence even before we moved here. Today I thought it’s time to make a visit.

The Ghost Buffalo from the Adobe Buffalo Project by artist Karen Windchild was completed in October 2017. The buffalo symbolizes the North on the Native American sacred medicine wheel: honoring the ancestors, spiritual wisdom and physical strength, and providing for the community. *

  • Expected Mundaneness

As it turned out today, again, was one of those days that taught me to never expect anything. I know that oftentimes the more I try, the less I find.

We drove to one of our favorite spots to witness the sunset this afternoon. The image above was captured about 5 minutes before sunset. I knew it wasn’t going to be one of those spectacular sunsets that Santa Fe is known for having. On the other hand, it would be unrealistic to expect grandiose every single day.

  • Nuestra Senora de Luz

Aimlessly driving around in Santa Fe County, we found this chapel at the end of the Old Las Vegas Highway. Our Lady of Light Church, located in Canoncito, was built in 1880 and is in fact a historic site. I truly appreciate its humble simplicity.

It happened to remind me today’s Daily Prompt on WordPress. Religion would have been on my list. I know that’s going to be controversial for many and I do respect most of the religions in the world that I’m aware of. If you think about how people can turn against each other and hurt someone they don’t even know simply because of the differences in their beliefs, you should be able to understand my sentiment..

  • Holding onto..

We decided to take a short walk together today, even though we both weren’t feeling 100% well. During his walks, I know my companion needs several breaks and to sit down on something to take a breath. A roadside large stone, utility box, or some family’s short stuccoed wall. Anything he can sit on securely.

At one point, he suddenly told me that he needed a break. There was nothing around he could sit on, so he approached a piñon tree and held onto a solid branch.

I captured this image and I said to him: “You can just hold onto me, you know..”

“I know, my Jason..” he said softly.

  • Door of Love

It’s been a rough day. My body aches and I’m still not myself. Today we had to go to the garage to get four new tires. Instead of waiting in their office, I forced and dragged myself outside to walk around in the neighborhood. This turquoise wooden door with a heart on it caught my eye. It was pretty much the only image I consider worthy of posting.
