  • The Ghost Buffalo

I knew about its existence even before we moved here. Today I thought it’s time to make a visit.

The Ghost Buffalo from the Adobe Buffalo Project by artist Karen Windchild was completed in October 2017. The buffalo symbolizes the North on the Native American sacred medicine wheel: honoring the ancestors, spiritual wisdom and physical strength, and providing for the community. *

  • Expected Mundaneness

As it turned out today, again, was one of those days that taught me to never expect anything. I know that oftentimes the more I try, the less I find.

We drove to one of our favorite spots to witness the sunset this afternoon. The image above was captured about 5 minutes before sunset. I knew it wasn’t going to be one of those spectacular sunsets that Santa Fe is known for having. On the other hand, it would be unrealistic to expect grandiose every single day.

  • Nuestra Senora de Luz

Aimlessly driving around in Santa Fe County, we found this chapel at the end of the Old Las Vegas Highway. Our Lady of Light Church, located in Canoncito, was built in 1880 and is in fact a historic site. I truly appreciate its humble simplicity.

It happened to remind me today’s Daily Prompt on WordPress. Religion would have been on my list. I know that’s going to be controversial for many and I do respect most of the religions in the world that I’m aware of. If you think about how people can turn against each other and hurt someone they don’t even know simply because of the differences in their beliefs, you should be able to understand my sentiment..

  • Holding onto..

We decided to take a short walk together today, even though we both weren’t feeling 100% well. During his walks, I know my companion needs several breaks and to sit down on something to take a breath. A roadside large stone, utility box, or some family’s short stuccoed wall. Anything he can sit on securely.

At one point, he suddenly told me that he needed a break. There was nothing around he could sit on, so he approached a piñon tree and held onto a solid branch.

I captured this image and I said to him: “You can just hold onto me, you know..”

“I know, my Jason..” he said softly.

  • Hang on to the Past

Not sure why, but the title came to my mind when I looked at this image.

It caught my attention the moment I saw it on my walk today. I’ve been there countless times but it wasn’t there before..

  • At the End of the Day..

At the end of the day, what does it all matter? It seems more than ever now that so many things are beyond our control, beyond our comprehension.. I try to keep myself focused on the positives. However my mind apparently is not as strong as I wish it should be. I still let all these noises get into me..

    Something is got to change..

  • Wild Things

Not sure if they were bisons, buffalos or simply cows, it’s quite an incredible sight. It was the first time encountering these animals in the wild. I didn’t even know their existence in our neighborhood.

  • Waiting for the End..

    Waiting for the end..

Waiting for the end of this winter.

Waiting for the end of this madness.

Waiting for the end of this crazy time.

It’s only a matter of time. The end will come.

  • First Snow of 2026.

Woke up this morning to find that we have received much more snow than we anticipated. The outside temperature was below freezing, but it didn’t stop me from stepping out to capture this image.

  • Blue and White

It’s getting colder these days, just like the world we are living in. Having a walk outside at the end of the day has slowly become more than just a routine. It’s a necessity to reclaim some peace.
