Today is our last full day in San Jose. Our experience of this city is mixed and it probably wouldn’t make it to the list of places that we want to return to in the future. My personal feelings towards this country is complicated by political reasons. Usually I try to put that aside wherever we travel to. But somehow this trip, in this country, it hits me hard and forces me to face the reality. This is the world we are living in, and there’s no point of fighting it.
Today was a bad day for my companion. It wasn’t the afternoon rain, which may have caused more pain in his legs. He couldn’t walk 30 feet without feeling the need to rest and ease the pain. It further worried him that the painkiller he took didn’t seem to work.
“I feel bad for you. It’s no fun traveling like this with me not being able to go anywhere.” he said to me while he was resting on one of the benches in the Multiplaza Escazú.
“Don’t overthink it now.” I replied, not knowing what to say exactly.
Now we’re back in the hotel room. His legs no longer bother him that much. Perhaps it took more than three hours for his painkiller to kick in?
I lie on the bed next to him, looking at the outside through the French window. The clouds are getting darker and there are flashes of lightning, as if predicting that it’s going to get worse..
The volcán Irazú is definitely there, although we couldn’t see it.
Due to the weather and the passing fog, we barely could see anything when we were at the site this morning. Up high at about 11,000 feet, the Irazú Volcano is the highest active volcano in Costa Rica. Too bad the weather didn’t cooperate. The chances of us visiting Costa Rica again are slim. Oh well..
There’s (more) light outside, but we choose to stay in..
This image was captured side of the Museo de Arte y Diseño Contemporáneo. The exit door was covered with sun-blocking sheets. But the light seeped through from the borders, which caught my attention.
