Sunrise today in Buenos Aires was at 7:20. I captured this image at 7:33 according to the data on my camera.
It’s our last day here and we have a night flight back to the U.S. Honestly I don’t mind heading home now. We do enjoy traveling but it could be exhausting, both mentally and physically. I’ll post today’s daily photo now; I don’t want to wait till the last minute and stress myself out..
It was by chance we were inside that dimly lit building, as we had no business being in there. I captured two images and this one was “speaking” to me. “Viajar as Vivir.” To travel is to live. At this moment, I couldn’t agree more..
We are back in Buenos Aires for a few days. Our hotel room window is facing an old hotel and we can see their used-to-be rooftop swimming pool. Even though it looks small, but it must have been a luxury to have a pool on top of the building at the time.
It’s been cloudy or even drizzling the whole day ever since we arrived in Buenos Aires almost a week ago. This morning we finally woke up with the sun shining through the window. But today was also the day that we’d be leaving for Montevideo, on the only sunny morning we ever had.
At the airport after we checked in, there was barely any announcements in English. We were playing guessing games the whole time at the gate since our Spanish was rather poor. At one point we got nervous because it had passed the scheduled boarding time and there was no explanation from the airline. We weren’t overly concerned since there were plenty other passengers seemed to be waiting for the same flight.
Long story short, eventually we boarded the plane and arrived in Montevideo without much delay. With the blue sky and the sun shining, our second part of the journey has just begun.
Even though I didn’t mention it, my companion suggested that we’d go to La Boca again today. He knew I found that neighborhood most interesting during yesterday’s city tour. And that’s the way he is..
However, as it turned out El Caminito is as touristy as it gets, and I barely captured anything images there. But this block of buildings caught my eye. This is how I’d like to remember La Boca..
My companion arranged in advance for a private city tour for today. The weather wasn’t great, but we made the best out of it. At the end of the tour, our guide drove us to the neighborhood called “La Boca”, known for its colorful houses and it’s said to be the birthplace of Tango. Our tour guide also introduced us to his favorite empanada place. Located on El Caminito, the shop is literally a hole in the wall and I tried their empanada with cheese. I have to say that it was the best empanada I’ve ever had since we arrived in Buenos Aires!
It’s been raining almost the whole day today and that certainly has inevitably dampened the mood a bit. At the same time my companion’s legs started to hurt again. He assumed that the high humidity was to blame and was annoyed that neither Tylenol nor Advil seemed to be working. What’s worse is that more rain is expected for the next two days..
Well, it was a “Cortado en Jarrito”. I captured this image after I finished it, which concluded our dinner tonight. It was also, as a matter of fact, the last “frame” of the images from today.
Not sure if it was the alcohol, my companion was placing orders in Español mixed with English this evening. It’s also possible that he has noticed that I’ve been trying to practice my Español since we arrived in Buenos Aires. So this evening we were using all the Spanish vocabulary that we know. Meanwhile our waiter had a good time listening to our broken Español. We all had a good laugh and wonderful time..
